Hi, Les Meloures. He was born 'Van Paemel' but he preferred to write his name in one word: 'Vanpaemel'. I know that his nephew, the artist Leo Van Paemel, went to the town hall in Blankenberge to check this out to be sure, and they confirmed that the correct spelling is: 'Van Paemel'.
